Urlaub, 4. Teil--Praha

Probably the highlight of my time in the Czech Republic was our trip to Prague. Alice was a great tour guide. We started out the day with a 4 hour train ride into the city. The first train we rode was the cutest. It apparently just goes between Kromeriz and the next town and consists of one car with built in engine. I wish I'd gotten a picture, but it was 6 in the morning, which is way too early for the Erex.

Our day in Prague itself started out with Wenceslas Square (named for Good King Wenceslas, that guy who looked out on the feast of Stephan). Wenceslas Square is where protests in Prague happen. Other than that, it's a tourist trap.

The next stop was the astronomical clock, where you need to look out for pickpockets, according to my guidebook.

Then we headed to the Charles Bridge, which was unfortunately under construction, followed by the Prague Castle. Alice told us a lot of stories about Prague and Czech history, but I'm not sure which ones are true, because she told us some of them weren't.

After the Castle, we met up with one of Alice's friends and had tea in an authentic Prague tearoom. We also rode the 22 tram, which supposedly also has a lot of pickpockets, according to my guidebook.

Afterwards, we went to a place whose name I don't remember where there was a cemetery where lots of famous Czechs are buried. Jara Cimrman, the greatest Czech of all time, is not buried there, mostly because he is a fictional character. Then, we had another epic 4 hour ride back to Kromeriz. All in all, it was a great day. We even made it through without having any of our belongings stolen.
